EXPLORING AMIENS BY BOAT
"After a few years spent away from my native Picardy, I came back to Amiens and I made myself a promise: to offer a different way of seeing the city. So I was especially proud when, in 2007, I took my first visitors aboard the Bateaux de Saint-Leu to show them the sights of Amiens. A trip out on an electric boat along the little canals around the city is an excellent way to discover both faces of Amiens: simple, traditional Amiens with its lovely, half-timbered houses and colourful streets, and the picture book Amiens, with its Gothic architecture. The cathedral never fails to move me, standing their tall and beautiful in the distance. Visiting a town on the water offers different aspects, the urban life suddenly giving way to a more village-like atmosphere. The water adds a country air to a city tour. I’ve loved getting to know the canals over the years. It’s a pleasure to pass on my wonder for this beautiful city."
