“I used to be a teacher, I entered farming through marriage. I had to adapt to another way of seeing time, space and continuity. In 1987, I was thinking of taking up teaching again. My husband saw things differently, he said, “I would prefer us to plough the same furrow”. A remark full of Picardy commonsense. We have a farm growing Voyenne strawberries. We started with 300 square metres and we now have 2.5 hectares. We sell only that day's crop. Our aim is not yield, but quality. The real flavour of strawberries is precious. The fruit processing workshop came in due course. We started with fruit juice, then jam and candied cherries, as we also have a cherry orchard. We took our time over it. We are careful and stubborn, we work more in the here and now than the ephemeral, building up gradually. The Picardy character again, probably!".
