“I created my garden for pleasure. I put it together in terms of harmony of colour and flowering. But every year, I move the plants around and I add new ones. A garden is never finished. That is its appeal. It’s a perpetual cycle of new beginnings. I joined the Picardy association of parks and gardens in 1998 and I opened my garden to the public. It’s a golden opportunity to share advice and tips with other garden lovers. I worked with the colours to get varieties of blue and white roses. I gave preference to roses, which are my favourite flowers – there are more than 170 varieties in the garden. The flowers give off their scent at different times of the day, it’s a very subtle fragrance specific to old roses. Lastly, what I appreciate about the garden is the silence. We are sheltered by large trees and nothing disturbs the harmony of the place. You get a real feeling of well-being here. Some visitors have fallen in love with the area through visiting our garden. Even in the rain, the charm works. Our visitors are enthusiasts who know how to take their time and who love sharing.”
