GOLF:“LA COUPE MURAT” (THE FRENCH STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS) IN PICARDY?
Destination : Picardy
Picardy, which is only 2 hours from Dover, offers many courses in exceptional preserved settings. So…grab your clubs!
Picardy has 20 golf clubs, some of which have complex courses (with greens which are surrounded by grass bunkers or lakes etc.). These are a delight for those who like the technical aspects of the game.
Thanks to its natural and cultural heritage, Picardy is an ideal destination for golfers, nature lovers and those who like old buildings. Two such examples are Raray and Belle-Dune which offer interesting technical courses and are also situated in prestigious settings.
The influence of leading architects:
The golf courses of Chantilly and of the “Club du Lys” in Lamorlaye were designed by Tom SIMPSON. Please note that this year golf is celebrating its 100th anniversary!
John JACOBS was in charge of designing Apremont’s golf courses.
Belle-Dune Golf Club: an ecological course which was rated among the 10 best golf courses in France by “Golf Magazine” in 2003.
The course is located on one of the most beautiful dune massifs in Europe and is surrounded by beachgrass-covered dunes, a forest of maritime pines and sand.
The architect Jean Manuel Rossy considered the ecological issues and managed to integrate the course in this environment with a fragile ecosystem.

Amiens Golf Club
The course is flat, planted with trees and has level and sloping greens which are protected by many bunkers. The quality of the ground allows it to remain dry and be played on throughout the year, whilst providing copious fairways and roughs. Their thickness as well as the presence of many shrubs oblige golfers to play straight to achieve a good score.

Rebetz Golf Course
The course was created in a pleasant and convivial setting, on an estate whose origins date back to the 12th century.
Designed by the architect Jean-Pascal Fourès, the course is renowned for the quality of its upkeep and its greens. Many ponds were created or carefully redesigned (there are 8 holes with water hazards). The course is challenging and technical, slightly hilly and not very tiring, and is accessible to everyone: both beginners and experienced players.
