Bienvenue à la ferme (Welcome to the Farm)Farmers have been developing tourist activities on their farms for more than 30 years. This was primarily motivated by a desire to open up to the outside world, the will to introduce others to their work and emphasise their products and a concern to preserve heritage built on quality. At the same time, consumers and tourists have a desire to return to nature, are making increasing demands regarding their surroundings, the quality of food products and leisure activities and want to re-establish community relations. The ‘Bienvenue à la Ferme’ network serves as the meeting point for farmers’ activities and the needs of society.
The national ‘Bienvenue à la Ferme’ label guarantees the quality of the various services offered on farms:
This is a farm that offers horse-riding. Some equestrian farms also offer accommodation and meals. Training, walks and rambling are provided by the hosts.
Farmers accommodate tourists on their premises, having developed and equipped a field (maximum of 25 pitches) near their farm. It is often possible to rent a tent, caravan or mobile home on the spot and fresh products from the farm can sometimes be bought. Farm campsites have a Sunflower rating (from 1 to 3).
Discovery farms enable families, individuals or groups to come and meet farmers, who have prepared tours, videos, manual activities and pictures to explain to visitors about their job and history, providing first-hand experience of how a farm operates.
A tranquil afternoon provides the setting for farmers to prepare and serve food and drink at tasting sessions, using products from their farm. Before sitting down, tourists may also be able to satisfy their curiosity by attending a guided tour of the farm.
You can’t beat the taste of freshly cooked products! The direct sale of farm products under the ‘Bienvenue à la Ferme’ (‘Welcome to the Farm’) label guarantees product quality, namely their origin and freshness, and provides an opportunity for real contact with the producer/farmer.
